sociology

I’m interested in getting some papers wrote. Each are 250 words topics have to do with sociology.
6 topics, each topic is 250 words. 6 different pages.
1. The McDonaldization of Society

In this paper, explain what the “McDonaldization of society” means in your own words. Then give some examples of the four principles of efficiency, calculability, predictability, and control that you observed throughout your day in different settings–in a trip to the supermarket, a restaurant, your work, or even at Owens. Include any irrational outcomes you observed as well!  Hint: Use the link in the additional materials as a resource.

2.This document will be checked for plagiarism.
Topic: Gender Socialization
For this paper, give me your thoughts on gender socialization. You can explore your own experiences, look in the media (advertising for children’s toys, for example), or talk to other people in your life (parents, grandparents). If you have children, share your experience with them.
Use these questions as prompts when you write your paper:
1) How do we learn what it means to be “male” or “female”?
2) How have these messages changed or stayed the same in your lifetime (or your parents, or grandparents)? Do you see things changing in the future?
3) Has there been a time in your life when you, or someone you know, went against gender expectations?  Or conversely, when you did something you didn’t really want to do, simply because it was expected for a boy or a girl?

3.The Sociological Perspective

After reading Chapter One and the additional materials, write a one-page paper that answers these questions:
1) What is the distinction between personal troubles and public issues?
2) How does the sociological perspective reveal “the connection between biography and history”?
3) How did society play a part in your decision to attend Owens?  Hint–think big!  Society is more than just your family and friends; think about the cultural values placed on education, regulations for your chosen career path, the economy, etc.

4. You will need to attend an on-campus or local event and write a paper about your experience–think library program, guest speaker, sports event, museum exhibit, cultural center, performance of some type.  Your paper should include an example of a course concept we have discussed or read about (for example: gender roles, cultural norms, ethnic diversity–anything we’ve covered) and how it relates to your event.
5. Topic: Family

This week, give me your reactions or thoughts on any of the things we discussed concerning marriage and family. You can talk about whatever is important to you. Guidelines: pick something that stood out to you in your reading. Tell me how it relates to your life or why it particularly interested you.

6 The American Dream

In this paper, give me your thoughts on class in the U.S. Use the “Down-to-Earth Sociology” insert on page 281 in your textbook, and your own experiences, as a resource.  Answer these questions:
1) What is the promise of the American Dream? Is there evidence that the dream is alive and well, or not?
2) What class do you consider yourself to be? Has there been upward mobility in your family? Think about your parents and grandparents when you answer this question.
3) What does the future look like for “middle” Americans?
