Topic 1
You are a consultant who has been engaged by a large
privately owned corporation to review its corporate
social responsibility (CSR) program.
The client is especially concerned that the program
will meet future regulatory and shareholder needs.
The corporation is planning to move from being
privately owned to a publicly listed organisation. The
company also has plans to relocate the majority of its
workforce out of Australia into China and India.
The client is sceptical about how having a corporate
social responsibility program will assist the company
to meet its future objectives. In your discussions with
them you have identified that they believe that a CSR
program is mostly about environmental sustainability.
You do not have to develop the program in detail
yourself but your report should identify explain the
essential elements of a CSR program, the benefits and
risks of CSR programs, and justify how revising the
CSR program will assist the organisation to achieve
their strategic objectives.
Your report should be based on your own, independent
research and critical analysis, refer to appropriate
academic literature, including journal articles, and
be supported with real life examples.
Topic 2
You are a consultant who has been requested by the
client to develop a whistle-blower policy for the
client’s not-for-profit organisation.
The client has confided in you that the Board and
senior management are of the firm belief that no-one
in the organisation would be doing ‘the wrong thing’.
The client is seeking guidance about how to introduce
the policy and encourage its adoption.
Even though you do not have to develop the policy in
detail yourself, your report should explain essential
elements of the policy, the risks and benefits of such a
policy and considerations for a successful introduction.
Your report should be based on your own, independent
research and analysis, refer to appropriate academic
literature, including journal articles, and be supported
with real life examples.
